Overview

Scott L. Matthews specializes in providing advice relating to cross-border commercial transactions, structured finance, secured transactions under Articles 8 and 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code and the formation and utilization of Delaware alternative business entities.  He has substantial expertise in drafting, issuing and providing advice relating to legal opinions involving commercial transactions with a Delaware connection, as well as Delaware limited partnerships, limited liability companies, statutory trusts, general partnerships and corporations.

Prior to working for The Delaware Counsel Group LLP, Mr. Matthews practiced from 2000 to 2009 with Richards, Layton & Finger P.A.  In law school, Mr. Matthews served as articles review editor of the Journal of Law and Politics at the University of Virginia School of Law.  Mr. Matthews also holds a master’s degree in English literature from the University of Virginia with a specialization in early 19th Century English literature.  In addition, Mr. Matthews has worked as a program coordinator for the Institute for Humane Studies, a non-profit educational institution located in Arlington, Va.
