Ellisa Opstbaum Habbart of The Delaware Counsel Group LLC joined lawyers from around the world on two panels at the International Bar Association Annual (the “IBA”) Conference in Washington D.C. The Annual Conference examines prevailing legal issues in key jurisdictions around the world.

Ms. Habbart updated conference attendees on developments in Delaware corporate law during the IBA’s Corporate and M&A Law Committee annual program “Current Legal Developments”. In addition to those of Delaware, key legal developments from the India, China, Argentina, and France that implicate how lawyers from around the world structure deals were also addressed. Co panelists included Rabindra Jhunjhunwala (Khaitan & Co, India), Scott Guan (Zhong Lun Law Firm, China), Tomas Allende (Estudio Beccar Varela, Argentina), andJose-Maria Perez (Bredin Prat, France).

On September 20, 2016, Ms. Habbart joined leading lawyers from around the world in a panel entitled “Lost in Translation: Part 3”, one of a series of panels that discusses cross-cultural issues as they relate to cross-border legal matters. Issues ranging from negotiation protocol to understanding the true meaning of the same word in different cultures were discussed.
